A dedicated airport representative will greet you at the aerobridge, assist with baggage collection, and provide access to an exclusive lounge for refreshments. If needed, you may exchange currency or withdraw cash before meeting your English-speaking chauffeur guide or an accompanying Spanish-speaking guide. From the airport, embark on a scenic 3.5-hour journey to Sigiriya. Upon arrival, check in at the luxurious Water Garden Sigiriya, where you can unwind and enjoy the serene surroundings for the remainder of the day.

Day 2Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya

After breakfast, depart for Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Sri Lanka’s medieval capital. A 90-minute drive through picturesque countryside leads to this ancient city, where you will explore the ruins of King Parakramabahu’s grand palace, the Tooth Relic Temple, the Vatadage, and the impressive Gal Vihara, where stunning Buddha statues are carved into rock. For a more immersive experience, bicycles are available for exploring the archaeological site.

Enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan lunch at Priyamali Gedara, a charming outdoor restaurant offering stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields. Later in the afternoon, visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an ancient citadel rising dramatically from the jungle. Climb to the summit to witness breathtaking views and explore the water gardens, frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens,’ and the ruins of King Kashyapa’s palace. After descending, relax with fresh fruit, cold water, and refreshing towels before returning to the hotel for a well-earned rest.

Day 3Sigiriya – Dambulla – Matale – Kandy

Begin the day with a visit to the renowned Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO-listed site featuring five caves filled with over 2,000-year-old frescoes and a magnificent 15-meter-long reclining Buddha statue. After exploring this sacred site, continue your journey to Matale, where you will visit a private spice garden. Here, you will learn about Sri Lanka’s famous spices, including cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom, and participate in a hands-on cooking class to prepare an authentic Sri Lankan curry. Enjoy lunch in a serene setting before continuing to Kandy.

Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, is steeped in history and culture. Upon arrival, visit the revered Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses one of Buddhism’s most sacred relics. The temple complex, adorned with intricate wood carvings and gold embellishments, is a site of deep spiritual significance. After the temple visit, check in at Kings Pavilion, a luxurious boutique retreat nestled in the hills, where you can unwind for the evening.

Day 4Kandy – Scenic Train to Hatton

After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Peradeniya Railway Station to board one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. This 2.5-hour ride takes you through the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, where rolling hills covered in lush tea plantations stretch as far as the eye can see. Light snacks and toiletries will be provided onboard for your comfort.

Upon arrival in Hatton, embark on a one-hour drive to Ceylon Tea Trails, a luxury colonial-style bungalow retreat set amidst breathtaking tea estates. Here, you will be welcomed with a refreshing drink and given time to settle into your elegant suite. As part of your all-inclusive stay, you can enjoy unlimited gourmet meals, premium beverages, and high tea. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the tranquil surroundings or relaxing with a freshly brewed cup of Ceylon tea.

Day 5Hatton

Start the day with an exclusive guided tour of a working tea factory led by Bernard Holsinger, a veteran tea planter. Gain insight into the intricate process of tea production, from plucking and withering to rolling and grading. Witness how different types of teas are created before enjoying a tasting session featuring some of the finest Ceylon teas.

The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You may choose to take a guided hike through the tea plantations, visit a local village, or simply relax with a book in the charming surroundings of your bungalow. Optional experiences include a visit to the MJF Foundation’s Child Development Center, which supports children of tea estate workers, or an exploration of the vibrant town of Hatton, where you can observe the daily life of the local community.

Day 6Hatton – Colombo

After breakfast, bid farewell to the tea country and embark on a scenic drive to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s bustling commercial capital. The city presents a fascinating blend of colonial architecture, modern skyscrapers, and vibrant street life. Your guided city tour includes stops at the Town Hall Building, Gangaramaya Temple, the National Museum, and Independence Square, providing insight into the city’s history and culture.

For lunch, enjoy a meal at Barefoot Café, a stylish eatery known for its relaxed atmosphere and delicious cuisine. This immersive experience takes you through the colonial-era streets of Colombo Fort and the lively markets of Pettah, with a focus on photography, architecture, and history. Along the way, enjoy stops for street food and tea before concluding the tour at the Old Dutch Hospital.
